How it works Enquiry to finished car
What actually happens to your car.
Detailing is full of trade language that hides what is being done. Here is the plain version: how booking works, and the exact method behind each of the three services.

The work Eight stages
What actually happens to your car
Most of these are on every package. Each one below says which include it, so you can see exactly what you are paying for before you ask anyone.

01Snow foam pre-wash
Thick foam is laid over the car and left to dwell, softening and lifting loose dirt so it rinses away instead of being rubbed into the paint by the first wash mitt.
Snow foam pre-wash & rinse
Silver · Gold · Diamond
Included on every package
02Hand wash
A pH-neutral two-bucket hand wash: one bucket washes, one rinses the mitt, so grit ends up in the rinse bucket rather than back on your paint.
pH-neutral two-bucket hand wash
Silver · Gold · Diamond
Included on every package
03Wheels and tyres
Wheels are cleaned face and barrel and the tyres are dressed. The purple you see is a fallout remover reacting with embedded brake dust as it dissolves it.
Wheels & tyres deep cleaned + dressed
Silver · Gold · Diamond
Included on every package
04Interior deep clean
Carpets and upholstery are wet-vacced rather than hoovered, leather is cleaned and conditioned, and the vents, dashboard, door panels and headlining are steam cleaned. On every package, not as an extra.
Full interior deep clean · steam clean · wet vac
Silver · Gold · Diamond
Included on every package
05Engine bay
Safe degreasing, cleaning and dressing under the bonnet, finished matte rather than glossy so it reads as clean instead of coated.
Full engine bay detail & presentation clean
Silver · Gold · Diamond
Included on every package
06Decontamination
Bonded grit that a wash cannot shift, mostly brake dust, road tar and industrial fallout, is chemically dissolved and then a clay bar pulls out whatever is left. The paint feels glassy afterwards, and this is what a polish needs before it can work on paint rather than on grit.
Iron fallout remover · tar remover · clay bar treatment
Gold · Diamond

07Machine polish
A powered polisher with a pad and compound refines a very fine layer of the clear coat, taking out the swirl marks and light scratches sitting in it. This is the step that changes how the paint looks rather than how clean it is.
Single-stage machine polish
Gold · Diamond

08Protection
A sealant or a coating goes on across the finished paint and cures to a hard, water-repelling layer. Because it seals in whatever is underneath, it always comes last. Silver and Gold get a 3-month sealant; Diamond gets a ceramic coating measured in years.
Ceramic sealant / ceramic coating applied to all paintwork

Included on every package

Bonded contamination is chemically removed so the polish works on paint, not on grit.
Full chemical decontamination
- 12
Brake dust, road tar and industrial fallout are dissolved and then drawn out of the paint, which is what leaves it glassy to the touch.
Iron fallout remover, tar remover & clay bar treatment
- 13
One machine polishing stage across the paintwork.
Single-stage machine polish
- 14
Light swirl marks and minor imperfections are refined out. Scratches deep enough to reach metal cannot be polished away. We tell you before quoting, not after.
Light swirl mark & imperfection correction
- 15
Gloss, depth and clarity come back.
Restored gloss, depth & clarity
- 16
The paint is sealed, so the finish holds for around three months rather than being left bare.
3-month ceramic sealant applied to paintwork
Worth knowing: Scratches that reach the metal can't be polished out, and no polish makes paint thicker. Send photos with your enquiry and we'll tell you what is realistic before quoting.
03 Method
Diamond: Deep Clean + Correction + Ceramic
Every step of Gold, with a ceramic coating in place of the sealant. 16 steps, in this order, identical whichever length you choose: the coating is what changes, and with it whether the protection is measured in 1, 3 or 5 years.

Ceramic coating applied to all paintwork
Worth knowing: Ceramic protects against UV, dirt, water and environmental contaminants. It does not protect against stone chips, deep scratches or physical impact damage. Nothing applied to paint does.

What to expect
Do you supply your own power and water?
Yes. We carry our own generator with a 25m cable reel and bring our own supply of spotless water, fully self-sufficient. If you can offer a mains socket it's appreciated, but never required.
Do I need to be home during the appointment?
Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the vehicle and a safe place to work, you don't need to be present, and we'll keep you updated throughout.
What if the weather is bad on the day?
Some services need suitable conditions for the best result. If the weather is too poor (heavy rain, for example) we'll contact you and reschedule to a better day at no extra charge.
How do I pay?
Cash or bank transfer, once the job is finished. Payment details are provided on completion.
Plain English The words we use
Every trade term on this site, translated.
- Snow foam
- A thick foam sprayed on before any contact, to soften and lift loose dirt so it rinses away instead of being rubbed in.
- Two-bucket wash
- One bucket of clean soapy water, one to rinse the mitt in. Grit comes off the mitt into the rinse bucket rather than going back onto the paint.
- pH-neutral
- Products that are neither acidic nor alkaline, so they're safe on paint, wraps and matte finishes.
- Decontamination
- Removing what has bonded to the paint and can't be washed off, as opposed to the loose dirt a wash removes.
- Iron fallout
- Tiny metal particles, mostly brake dust, that embed in paint and corrode. Chemical removers dissolve them.
- Tar remover
- A solvent that breaks down road tar spots, which are common along the lower panels.
- Clay bar
- A pliable bar drawn over lubricated paint to pull out bonded particles a chemical can't reach. Paint feels glassy afterwards.
- Machine polish
- A powered polisher with a pad and compound, refining a very fine layer of the clear coat to remove defects sitting in it.
- Swirl marks
- Fine circular scratches in the clear coat, usually from automatic car washes, dirty sponges or wiping a dusty car. They show as a haze in direct light.
- Stage 1 / single-stage
- One machine polishing stage, a correction and finishing step combined. It addresses light defects rather than deep ones.
- Hydrophobic
- Water beads up and rolls off rather than sheeting across the panel.
- Ceramic coating
- A liquid that cures into a hard protective layer bonded to the paint, measured in years.
- Ceramic sealant
- The same idea with a far shorter life, months rather than years.
- Steam clean
- Hot vapour used to lift dirt from vents, trim and headlining with very little moisture and no harsh chemicals.
- Wet vac
- A vacuum that injects and extracts water, pulling dirt out of carpets and upholstery rather than just off the surface.
